What are the fat burning foods?  Choosing food carefully when you’re trying to lose weight helps you meet your goals faster.  Decreasing calories is important, but if you choose foods that are more filling, you will feel more satisfied eating less.

Oatmeal is low on the glycemic index, high in fiber, and could be considered a fat burning food.   Any whole grain food, like brown rice, whole wheat bread, whole wheat pasta and oatmeal are going to help fill you up more and allow you to exercise longer.

Another fat burning food is apples.  Apples are high in fiber and will increase your blood sugar gradually over time.  This helps you burn fat as you use the energy found in the apple.  Eating this fat burning food fills you up and helps prevent hunger pangs.

If you learn how to count calories, it will help you lose weight.  Most people who are trying to lose weight should aim for a daily calorie count of less than 1500 in order to lose weight.  If you eat 1500 calories a day for a week and haven’t lost any weight, you should decrease your daily calorie goal.

Keeping a food journal is the best way to help you count calories and lose weight.  Determine your calorie goal for each day, and write down everything you eat.   Use whatever resources you can find to learn how many calories are in the foods that you eat.  This information is often found on product packaging, books, and websites.  As time goes by, it will be easier to count calories and lose weight.

Ways to Burn More Calories

October 13, 2008 by mrogers · Leave a Comment

There are no magic ways to burn more calories.  You need to move more than you have in the past, and you’ll burn more calories.  This is a mindset change and requires you to think about your day in different ways.

When you park your car at the supermarket, don’t circle the lot searching for the closest spot.  Park at the end of an aisle, and walk the longer distance to the doors.  If you see a cart along the way, grab it and push it to increase your resistance and burn even more calories.

An even better way to burn more calories on your supermarket visit is to walk there instead of driving.  If you have a supermarket within a mile of your home, you can walk to the store and use a wagon or pull cart to bring your grocery bags home.   Riding a bicycle with a trailer attached for your groceries means is another way you can burn more calories while visiting stores farther than a mile from your home.

Look at the different errands you run during the week, and think about different ways to approach them to effectively increase the ways you can burn more calories.
