Do Fiber Calories Count?
December 18, 2008 by mrogers
You may wonder do fiber calories count in your weight loss efforts, and whether you should keep track of your fiber calories. An interesting thing to learn is that fiber calories are often not shown on nutrition labels of food items in the US. Fiber is not digested, and therefore the calories are not counted.
Nutrition labels do include the number of fiber grams in foodstuffs, but the calories related to the actual fiber is often subtracted from the total calorie count. Since the fiber passes through your body without being digested, it really can’t be counted.
It is important to eat a certain amount of fiber a day, so do count those fiber calories so you are sure that you are getting enough fiber. But, to answer the question “Do Fiber Calories Count?” the answer is not really!
