A study by the Mayo Clinic has found that people who fidget burn more calories. You, too, can burn calories by fidgeting. With plenty of fidgeting, you could potentially lose weight without even going to the gym. For example, you can burn calories by:
- chewing gum and burn 11 calories per hour
- standing instead of sitting and burn 20 calories per hour
- tap your toes and burn 9 calories per hour
While it may not seem that you’re burning very many calories, it does add up over time. Fidget and burn calories by going to the gym and lose even more weight. If you move every time you have the opportunity, Mayo Clinic researchers found that you could burn almost 400 calories a day.

Burn Calories by Hula Hooping!
December 30, 2008 by mrogers · Leave a Comment
If you’re looking for a fun, new way to burn calories, try to burn calories by hula hooping! The fun hoop of your childhood can put new life into your workouts and help you burn calories by having fun! You can pick up hula hoops at most mass merchandisers, and I’ve even seen them at the dollar store.
Hula hooping requires you to swivel your hips to keep the hoop spinning around your waist. It’s a great workout that burns calories and helps shape your waist and abdomen. It is a unique exercise that tones and strengthens your external and internal oblique abdominal muscles.
It may seem hard at first, but with practice, you’ll be swinging that hoop easily for 10-20 minutes as part of your workout. Burn calories by hula hooping and lose weight, too!
