Everyone is looking for easy ways to burn calories, especially when they’ve recently over-indulged in treats and goodies. Often, if you take the time to change your mindset about burning calories, it suddenly easier. Here are a few more things to try and they are 2 easy ways to burn calories.
- Wear a pedometer. The reminder of how many steps you’ve taken will help push you to take even more during your day. Set a goal for yourself of walking 500 more steps than you did the day before, until you’re regularly walking 10,000 steps a day.
- Walk the escalator. When you can’t find a stairway, but need to move between floors, don’t passively stand on the escalator as it moves you to the next level — walk the steps instead.

It’s nice to have a few easy ways to burn calories built into your routine. You have to burn about 3500 calories more than you consume in order to lose one pound of weight. That sounds like quite a bit, but if you break it down and stay focused, it can become second nature to burn calories easily.
- Instead of piling things at the bottom of the stairs to take upstairs, take each item up individually as you find it. Run up the stairs instead of walking. It takes the same amount of time, but gets your heart working a bit more than it was.
- Wash your car by hand instead of going through a drive through car wash. You’ll burn more calories, and probably have a cleaner car to boot!
- Chew sugarless gum. You’ll burn around 11 calories an hour just by chewing gum. It may not seem like much, but every calorie burned adds up, plus you won’t be snacking on high calorie treats when you have gum in your mouth. That is a truly easy way to burn calories!
To burn more calories, you must look at your daily routines differently and try to figure out ways to move more throughout your day. Write down a few more easy ways to burn calories and post them on your mirror to remind you about them.

When you want to lose weight, easy ways to burn calories are important things to know! Losing weight can seem like a struggle many days, but if you build in these easy ways to burn calories, you’ll be ahead in your weight loss!
- Park at the far end of the parking lot. How many times have you circled a parking lot multiple times trying to find the closest parking spot? Do yourself a favor and park at the far end of the lot and walk to the doors. You’ll burn more calories and it’s an easy thing to do!
- Skip the elevator in buildings. Do you work on the 2nd or 3rd floor at work? Is your doctor’s office on the 5th floor? Don’t bother waiting for the elevator. Burn calories by climbing the stairs instead! If you don’t think you’re ready to climb 5 flights of stairs, take the elevator to the 3rd floor and climb 2 flights of stairs. Next time you visit, climb 3 flights. Before you know it, you’ll be climbing 5 flights easily.
- Eat spicy food. Studies have shown that eating spicy food helps increase your metabolism and burn more calories. Of course, you’ll still want to eat in moderation.
- Stand up while you’re on the phone. Instead of sitting down while talking on the telephone, get up and walk around. Perform a few leg lunges and squats while you catch up with your friend and you’ve got another easy way to burn calories.
- Drink green tea. Green tea helps boost your metabolism, so that’s another easy way to burn calories. You should be drinking plenty anyway, so switch your diet soda to green tea (iced is wonderful, too!)
